I so not think the utilites downloaded on my MacBookPro when the rest of the install CD was installed. I was trying to find out how much ink was left in the printer and to use the cleaning programif necesssary.

10.9 now, CD was installed using 10.6 Thanks

Thanks for the response lizzy,
The updated Drivers for Mac OS X 10.9 can be found HERE. Once the correct drivers are installed the printer utilities will appear. Let us know if this resolves your issue.

I got to step 2 but could not get the start to activate. Since it said to connect directly, I am using the cable from my Canon MP 760. What is the next step?
