I have a MX 870 that will print from computer but recently the copied and scanned pages are blank.

This machine worked fine for years, until i heard a grinding sound and then it began presenting blank pages when it copied or scanned. It still prints from the computer although the shade is lighter than before.

Based on the information you provided (blank scans and grinding noise), the scanning unit may be malfunctioning.  At this point I recommend contacting us to discuss your service options.
