I have a Canon ip6600D printer that is getting a 6500 error, cleared error now no printing

I have a Canon IP6600D printer and today it started to act up.

First I found it turned itself off earlier today and I had issue trying to get it to power up but eventually did and received an error stating an incorrect devise was plugged into the printer -- remove the device.  Nothing new was plugged into the devise just the usb that connects my laptop.

After about an hour of playing around with the printer, unplugging it, removing the USB cable, turning it on and off with and without the USB cable the message changed to an 6500 error message.

I played with that for about another hour, trying several things, on and off, opening the cover with inks and hitting the power button, etc..... saw a message about a master reset, that didn't seem to work initially but I tried one more time to power on the printer and all seemed to be fine.  It showed several inks were out so I replaced them with new cartridges and now no print at all!

I tried sending a black and white word document, went through its motions, sounded like it was printing but the page was blank.  I tried sending a photo from the PC -- again took long to print the photo but the page was blank.  I tried to use an SD card to print a photo and again -- took it time and sounded like it was printing but the page is blank.

I tried cleaning the heads, printing out an alignment page, etc.... all the basic things to correct bad printing but still nothing but perfect blank pages -- no ink at all.

Any suggestions?
