I can print to my mx430 but cannot scan back to my computer that it's hooked up to (NOT wireless)

I can print from my laptop but cannot get scanner to send to my laptop.  Keeps giving me the message "please wait a while" when I try to scan

Have you tried initiating the scan from the computer using Canon's scanning software (MP Navigator EX)?
