My G6020 multifunction printer has begun giving me an error code when I attempt to scan multiple documents

It will scan the first page fine, then when I attempt to scan the second page I get the error above.
I purchased the scannner in January 2020 and it has worked just fine until now.
I am running 27" iMac Late 2014 model with macOS Catalina 10.15.3. The printer is connected to the iMac via USB.
I have removed the scanjet lite utility, downloaded the latest version, and reinstalled several times and rebooted the computer each time.
Help -- I would hate to think that I have to replace a multifunction printer that is less than a year old!
