Hi tac1981,
First, please print a test page from your PIXMA G6020:
1. Please load plain paper into the cassette of your PIXMA G6020.
2. Please press the wrench and screwdriver button on your printer one time.
3. Repeatedly press the right arrow button to select Maintenance and press the OK button.
4. Press OK on Nozzle check.
A test page will print.
Please compare your printout with the example below.
On the page that printed, did a black grid print to the right of |BK| ?
Below that, did 2 blue, 2 pink and 2 yellow bars print?

Hi watson-hannon,
To verify, you own the PIXMA G6020, correct?
If so, are all of the inks full? To check, please click the link provided.
Have you performed any printhead cleanings? If not, please click the link to view the procedure.
If you have performed printhead cleanings, have you then performed an ink flush? If not, please click the link to view the procedure.
If all of the inks are full and black still does not print after performing 2 deep cleanings and an ink flush, your G6020 may require service. If your PIXMA G6020 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:
https://mycanon.usa.canon.com
Once logged in, click on your PIXMA G6020 and then click on the Product Support button. When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support.
If your PIXMA G6020 is out of warranty, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
