Error Code 1660 - PIXMA MX922

Hello Everyone

I have a Pixma MX922 and I keep getting the error code 1660. I have changed the ink cartridge 3 times and keep getting the same error message. Is there anything I can do to to correct it or bypass this error? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Since you've already tried replacing the ink cartridge, the next step is to check the ink cartridge contacts. these are the small metal strips on the bottom of the ink cartridge that make contact with the printer. If they're dirty or damaged, the printer won't be able to detect the ink cartridge.

Thank you   That fixed it

I have been replacing the ink cartridge several times, turning off and on and waiting, etc but I think biwek 86619 is on to something.  Since this is yet another new Magenta cartridge, the contacts are factory fresh, but what about if there is a difficulty with the contacts in the magenta carrier where it must be seated?

Is that a possibility?  I did wipe them gently, there is no change.  The light on the new cartridge is dimmer than the other (also all new) cartridges.

I would be very sorry to have to scrap my (until now) wonderfully reliable printer, are there people who manage these types of repairs?

Hi,

The issue may not be with the cartridge but with the print head itself.

To check for a repair facility, I would perform a internet search with the keywords of printer repair and your zip code. That should pull up anyone in your area that can service printers.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.

I noticed the chip on the cartridge was not the correct way around so the contacts were nit making contact. the chip can be easily prised off, turn it around push in back on the cartridge and hey presto contacts connected all ok
