Connecting Canon G7020 and MS Surface Pro 9

BrianV

I have a MS Surface Pro 9 with the following system information:

Processor Microsoft SQ3 3.00 GHz

Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.41 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor

I have tried unsuccessfully to connect my Canon G7020 printer.  Is my OS incompatible with my printer?

The support page lists W11 as being supported. It might be the ARM processor. Give Canon support  call.

Greetings,

Call Canon as John suggests.

This page states the G7020 is supported, but I didn't find drivers.

Canon Knowledge Base - PIXMA / MAXIFY Products: Windows 10 / Windows 11 on ARM-Based Computers

If they cannot help, I would investigate return or exchange of the SP9 for a like model with an Intel based chipset and CPU.  ARM is very power efficient, and has some strengths, but software and hardware compatibility is not one of them.  As good as the machine might be, its hardware and software support is limited.  This is just the beginning of the headaches which will follow.  If you don't have to live with this decision, consider switching if you still can.
