Canon Pixma MG2922 Series Printing but not Scanning while connected to Network

I am trying to use the scanning feature in my Canon Pixma Mg2922 and it wont allow me to scan. It will print but it will not scan. Every time I try to scan, this error code appears:

Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons:
- Scanner is turned off.
- (If using Wired LAN connection) It is disconnected from Wired LAN.
- (If using wireless LAN connection) Signal strength is poor due to obstructions.
- Network connection is prohibited by security software.
- Different scanner on the network is selected.

Check the above and try scanning again.
If you still cannot communicate, restart the computer.

Code:15,157,0

I have throughly installed and uninstalled the package and drivers to no avail. I verified that my printer/scanner is connected to the same network as my Mac. I have been having this issue since updating my Macbook Air to El Capitan. Thanks!

Hi goodreviews,

I understand you have a PIXMA MG2922, you are able to print wirelessly; however, you are not able to scan wirelessly.

To troubleshoot this issue, please perform the following steps:

  1. Make sure the printer is on and not displaying an error message.
  2. Open the IJ Scan Utility 2 program.
  3. Confirm the Product Name is Canon MG2900 series Network.
  4. If it does not show the above Product Name click on the drop-down box and adjust to show the correct Product Name.
  5. Click on SETTINGS in the lower right.
  6. The SETTINGS window opens.
  7. Click on the TOOLS icon in the upper left.
  8. Click on SELECT to the right of the Product Name.
  9. The IJ NETWORK SCANNER SELECTOR EX window opens.
  10. Confirm/Select the MG2900 series Printer is selected on the list.
  11. Press OK to close the windows.
  12. Perform test scan.

If you still encounter issues with wireless scanning, try installing the ICA Driver. This may improve communication between the scanner and the computer.

To install the ICA Driver, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click HERE to go directly to the Canon download site.
  2. Below Drivers & Downloads, next to Operating System, you should see that your operating system has been detected.
  3. Below Operating System, you will see Drivers in a red box.
  4. A little further down and to the right, click on the SELECT button next to the file titled, “ICA Driver Ver. 4.1.3 (Mac)”
  5. Click on the red DOWNLOAD button.
  6. If you are asked if you want to save the file, do so.
  7. Close the web browser, and go to your Downloads folder.
  8. Double-click on the file titled, “misd-mac-ijscanner14f-4_1_3ea21_3.dmg”
  9. In the window that opens, double-click on the icon that looks like an open box with a yellow package.
  10. A welcome screen will appear.
  11. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software on your computer.
