Canon Pixma MG2220 - Instillation issues

So I got this Printer for Christmas and I've been trying to set it up but it fails to detect the printer being plugged in but it shows up under unknown devices... So I don't know what to do any help would be great.

My specs:

Windows 8 x64
AMD 8 Core 5.0Ghz processor
16gb ram
nvidia titan graphics card
1 1tb hdd & 2 500gb hdd's
corsair 1200w psu

Please make sure the printer is connected directly to the computer instead of it going through a USB hub or the like. If the issue persists, please try downloading the updated printer driver from the following website:
