Canon PIXMA TR4522 - "Insert Ink Cartridges Correctly" Error

Winter23

Hi, I just bought a new ink cartridge for my Canon PIXMA TR4522 Printer. I haven't used this printer in a good while. And It turns on and I put in the new cartridge which is an  "onn. 245XL"  Black. An error is repeatedly appearing on the little screen saying "insert ink cartridges correctly" with   "168A" right below it. I've noticed that when I first turn on the printer, that the cartridge holders In the machine do not move on their own... Does this mean my printer is broken? Now that I've already opened up the ink cartridge, I can't return it right? It hasn't been used obviously.

No matter what buttons I press, nothing happens, and I am certain I am putting the cartridge in properly.

Greetings,

From the web.

The Canon printer error code 168A on a TR4522 model typically indicates an issue with the FINE (ink) cartridge installationIt suggests that the cartridge is either not installed correctly, not compatible, or that the printer is not recognizing it properly.

Here is the Canon KB  for installing or changing inks.

Replace an Ink Cartridge - PIXMA TR4520, TR4522 https://share.google/UDQh2dtYfYv00ftyu

Review the instructions and re-check installation.

Hi,

Thank you very much for this. Very helpful. I read that both ink cartridges need to be in the machine in order for it to work properly. However, I still have a feeling that the entire printer itself is not working properly as I wrote in my initial post. The ink cartridge holder does not move on its own from left to right, then centering itself. I'm not sure if it's worth going out to get another ink cartridge.

Please let me know what other steps I could possibly take. thank you

Greetings,

When the cover is closed, the ink carriage will not move to the "ready' position if one or the other ink cartridges is empty, not installed correctly or is not detected.

If the other cartridge has been sitting unused for a long period of time, it could be clogged or dry.  A replacement cartridge might help, but if there's another issue you've just dumped a bunch of money into a printer that could have been replaced.  The printer itself is not expensive so a replacement might be a better long term solution.  You seemed to indicate there could be another issue?  Inkjets do not do well sitting unused.  Sometimes.new inks can revive them, but if the printhead is clogged, you could go through a lot of expensive inks trying to unclog it.

I use laser printers as they can sit for extended periods unused and don't clog.

Canon does have a upgrade program that offers a small discount and free shipping on a new product if you are interested.
