Canon PIXMA MX925 on macOS Sonoma – Scanner not showing up

peterfis

Hi,
I'm trying to set up my Canon PIXMA MX925 printer & scanner on my new laptop running macOS Sonoma.
Printing works fine so far, but the scanner isn't recognized and not showing up anywhere.
This happens in both cases, wether I set it up via "Bonjour" or via "Canon IJ Network".

I've installed the most recent drivers/software I could find (that is, Canon IJ Network Tool Ver.4.7.6 for Mac and the Canon IJ Scan Utility2, 2.4.1). Trying to open the Scan Utility gives me the error message that no scanner driver is installed (Code 15,230,0).

I'm quite lost as on what else to install though...
Does anyone have an idea on how to get my scanner to work again?

Thanks,
Peter

P.s.: I used to have the same issue with that printer back on older laptops and older versions of macOS. So I'm pretty sure it's not simply a compatibility issue with Sonoma, because that problem came up before. Back then I fixed it somehow, sadly I don't remember how I did that...

Hi there,
were you able to find a solution yet?
I have the exact same problem with my Mac Mini, Sonoma 14.4.
I also use the PIXMA MX925 and using the printer driver "PrinterDriver_MX920 series_167000.pkg" I was also able to set up the printer on the network,
However, if I like to scan, the printer cannot find the Mac Mini with Sonoma, the scanner driver is probably missing.
I have the “Canon IJ Scan Utility” tool running version 1.1.1 on my old iMac (macOS High Sierra 10.13.6). According to Canon Support, this tool is only supported up to Mac OS X 10.8 version (Mountain Lion). For me it also runs on macOS High Sierra, but not on Sonoma. It's probably due to the M2 silicon chip, but I'm not sure.
See you soon

Greetings,

There is a small chance this Canon installer will work with MAC OS 14.  You'll have to try it.

If it doesn't work, your best bet would be VueScan by Hamrick software.

Hi Rick,

That was an excellent tip, I installed the driver and everything worked.
I can use the MX925 in all applications again, thank you very much for that.
