Canon MX431 - scanner don't work

Romani-IT

This Canon MX431 connect to 2 machines:  winXP and Win7, both Wifi, 32bit environtment.

At Win7 machine: the printing works ok, but when try to scanning, a error appear:

Code 2,157,50

Is a Win7 security issue?

We was trying using a USB cable, but the usb connection looks inexistent.

At Canon download we found new drivers, this new installer ask the way: wifi or USB. Then take USB but the installer says there is  no cable connect. Then replace the USB cable, none respond. If we take the wifi way, the scanner still no respond.

This HP Win7 machine comes with several security utilities, all was uninstalled, but the problem continues.

What can I do?

Can coexist wifi and USB connections?

Hi Romani-IT,

Wifi and USB can coexist on the same computer, but to avoid complication, it's best to choose one over the other.  If it's printing fine wireless, the MP Navigator software may just not be set up to receive communication wirelessly.  To check this, Open MP Navigator and click the Preferences button at the bottom of the Window.  Make sure that the Product name says MX430 SER network:xxxxxxxx where the x's are the MAC address of the printer.  Once selected, press OK and try scanning again.

The USB cable keep not responding.

With MP Navigator, at Preferences_General_ Product Name, I can see only "MX430 series network"  without address.

If pick Change, with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX, can take 88.87.17.BE.96.D8 address, but keep no responding.

As final trying, using another hard disc, by installing Windows Vista 32 without any antivirus_firewall, the problem persist, no usb respond, first error was  5,157,61 then restarting the error persist is 2,157,50.

Hi Roman-IT,

There may be a third party scanner driver interfering with MP navigator.  Please try the following:

1.  Click 'Start' and then 'Computer'.

2.  On the left-hand pane, click the down arrow beside Local Disk (C:).

3.  Click the down arrow beside Windows to open the folder

4.  Highlight the twain_32 folder.

5.  The folder should have 2 folders that start with PIXMA MX430 and a file called wiatwain.ds.  Any other folders or files should be dragged to the desktop.

6.  Reboot the computer and try scanning again.
