Canon MP Navigator Stopped Working (MX870)

Running Windows7, 64 bit Oper System

Canon MX870

Scanning was not an issue prior to a few days ago. No new software or programs have been installed.

Went to scan a document and scanning looked like it was working, then it greyed out and received error message: Canon MP Navigator EX has stopped working.

Searched internet for solutions and tried them. Nothing works. I've gone as far to un-install all Canon products and utilities, even went into registry and searched and removed everything I thought I could related to Canon.

Still receive error. What do I do now?

Guess I've pretty much stumped the panal since there's been no response

Brilliant.  Tried all the other checks with no success then changed the settings in JustCloud backup and my scanner now works.

Thanks for the post.

Running Windows 7, 64 bit

C:\Windows\twain_32\MX870 series_001E8F96F0F4 contains: _SETSCN_ dated 12/14/2013. This was probably due to my reinstalling my MX870 from the original CD.

C:\Windows\twain_32\MX870 series contains about 64 files dating prior to 1/7/11.

wiatwain.ds is dated 7/13/11

I moved a folder "omcam" to the desktop. Only the file "cecuvc.ds" appeared on the desktop.

I deleted the empty folder "omcam"

I restarted windows.

This did not enable MP Navigator

Did I miss a step?

The earlier posts on tricking the MP and getting the scan via Pictures worked for me as a short term solution for 1 document, but still can't resolve MP Nav. stopped working problem despite trying everything on all these previous posts.

When two big corporations are finger pointing on each othet that measn both are clueless and irresponsible.

The entire MX series always was problematic for drivers , we have had MX860 and MX870 for years and we just retired the last one today,
Most probably the worst drivers Canon ever made...
They are not even compatible from one scanner to an other, we have one MP navigator per device on our computers... Lid 90 uses 1.0, MX 860 uses 2.0, MX 870 uses 3.1
Shows you how much Canon respects his clients...

They they will tell you customers are not loyal! How can we be?

anon Never again for us... Worst divres on the market ...

I have a Pixma MG8120 and this worked fine. I didn't even have to reboot.

My MG2120 has the same issue.  Tried everything in these posts and spent 2 hours with tech support.

I'm a senior level QA Analyst by trade and this MP Navigator is junk.  Another IT professional was on these posts and said he is going back to HP.  Guess I'll be along shortly.

Too bad.  The hardware seems OK.  The software never shoud have been released.

Tried all the fixes suggested. None of them worked. Then I tried youtubing it, and this worked for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Sbb44GhAXU Hope that helps

Thanks but it didn't work for me.   Went through the steps but no luck.

I am having the same problems described (the machine just simply refused to scan wireless from the control panel one day). However, I am using a MacBook and running OS 10.9.4, and wondering if anyone can translate a fix into "AppleSpeak." I have followed all normal fix attempts to no avail.
