COMPUTER NOT RECOGNIZING DRIVERS

HARLAN1

Windows 10 OS.

Pixma TR4700 series

After using this printer for a while only as a scanner, I bought ink. It seemed to reject the third party ink (walmart carries  the printer but not the ink). So I tried it in the settings and  although it pulled the paper through it didn't print.

then it told me it couldn't find the scanner as TR4700 had no drivers.

I reinstalled the software. Now it tells me it can't find the printer. I installed Master-

File NameMaster Setup (Windows)
TypeSoftware
Date09.17.25
File Size9.79 MB
Details

How does the software work one day and not work

File Name

mas2-win-104_0_0-ea34_2.exe

File Description

This file will download and install the driver needed to set up and utilize your product. Once complete, you will be able to install software to enhance the product's functionality.

Now it is telling me it can't find the  printer. What am I dong wrong. How does the printer driver suddenly disapear from your computer and how is it not accepting it's own driver. What am  I doing wrong?  Thank you.

"...can't find the printer." is possibly a networking problem, not a driver issue.  I don't believe you've shared connection details.  Is it USB connected or wifi?  If the latter, have you explored the wifi assistance on the product support page at https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-tr4720  ?

It appears that you downloaded the correct install package for Win 10 64-bit.

WIFI

But is also something else maybe. At first, I gave it the print command through the  printer and thepaper went through but did not print. Scanner did  not work at all so I reinstalled drivers and it got worse as outlined above.

We need to know what connection you are using WIFI or USB/printer cable?

I believe I said Wifi

Wi-Fi, You did yes.

We are assuming you have a TR4720?  The TR4700 identifies a series, not an actual printer model.

Let's confirm the following.

Connectivity.

Log into your wireless router and review the list of attached devices.  You should see an entry for:

The printer, its name, MAC address and IP assigned by the router

The computer you are using, its name, MAC address and IP assigned by the router

These should be on the same LAN segment.  i.e. 192.168.x.x or 10.x or 172.x etc, but all the numbers should match except the last set.  Example computer 192.168.1.22 and printer 192.168.1.23

If one or both devices do not appear on the attached devices list, one or the other is not connected.

If both devices are present, try to ping the IP of the printer from your PC using a command prompt.

The IP of my printer is 192.168.1.99, note it replies

C:\Windows\System32>Ping 192.168.1.99

Pinging 192.168.1.99 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.99: bytes=32 time=56ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.99: bytes=32 time=77ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.99: bytes=32 time=71ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.99: bytes=32 time=82ms TTL=64

Ping statistics for 192.168.1.99:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 56ms, Maximum = 82ms, Average = 71ms

3rd party anti-virus (if present) can keep network devices from communicating.  May or may not apply here.

You can also print a network configuration out from the printer using the steps here.  Note however, this will not provide info about your PC.

1. do you mean just bring up the list of printers?
2.I have no idea how to  get intoi my wireless router.

3.Can anyone provide info less techy  people can use.

Thank you.

The easiest solution would be to reconfigure the printer as if it were new.

Visit https://ij.start.canon/tr4720

Follow the prompts, and the site will install all of the nessary drivers and software.

If you get stuck or need one-on-one assistance, give our team a call at 1-800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666).

Greetings,

The steps I'm providing are methods to help you verify connectivity and communication.

I want to help you confirm your printer is connected to your network instead of guessing.

I provided some manual methods, but you can also use the printer's control panel to print out a network configuration page.  This will verify if your printer is connected to your network.

Right now you are running a program on a system that seeming doesn't find the printer.  This might be because the printers not connected to the network.

I also asked about and mentioned third party anti-virus.  Which you never confirmed.

Typically installing a printer is easy.  You run a utility, get the printer connected to your network and start printing.

When that doesn't work. You have to take steps to determine where the problem or issue lies.  If you are not comfortable performing these steps, getting professional help may be needed. This is true of any brand or model printer that you are using.

One way or the other, you will need to verify certain things in order to identify the problem.

Maybe it's time to contact Canon Support.

Start by registering your device in your MyCanon Account.
