Our Canon tr8620a just stopped printing barcodes. It has no problem printing everything else. We’ve changed the ink, run all of the cleaning protocols, and reset to factory settings without any luck.

anyone know what to do?

Thanks! I tried this, but this model doesn't have a BarDIMM setting. I ended up getting it to print the barcodes when I converted the file to a JPEG. We've been printing barcodes on this device with no issues for 2+ years and then all of sudden it won't print them.

Anyway, if anyone else has this issue, try printing as a JPEG - that's the only solution we found that worked.

Troubleshooting Barcode Printing on PIXMA TR8620a

If your Canon PIXMA TR8620a printer is not printing barcodes while successfully printing other documents, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Check BarDIMM Settings

  • Ensure that the BarDIMM menu is set to 'Enable'. This setting is crucial for the printer to process barcode data correctly.

Verify Barcode Format and Symbology

  • Confirm that you are using the correct format for the type of barcode you want to print. Different barcodes require specific symbologies, and using the wrong one can lead to printing issues.

Additional Considerations

  • If barcodes are still not printing, check the following:
    • The printer's memory may be overloaded. If you see a "MEMORY OVERFLOW" message, consider simplifying the barcode data.
    • Ensure that the barcode reader you are using is compatible with the symbologies you are trying to print.
    • Make sure the cursor is positioned correctly on the page to avoid printing errors, especially for barcodes at the top of the page.
    • To enable the BarDIMM menu on the Canon PIXMA TR8620a printer, you need to activate the Bar Code Printing function in the printer settings. Refer to the "User's Guide" that came with your printer for specific instructions on accessing and enabling this menu.
