After changing my printer ink cartridge (PIXMA MX492), some of the letters aren't printing out right

I'm trying to print from a PDF file but now it's printing out the H's without the horizontal cross through the middle of the letter and it seems like my alignment is off.  Can anyone give me any advice on how to rectify this?

To try and resolve the alignment issue, please perform a print head alignment on the unit by following the steps shown here. You can also try cleaning the encoder film of the printer by following the steps shown here.
