Thanks for joining the conversation, Superdave63!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which version of macOS is running on your iMac. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

it is running the MacOS Catalina. Version 10.15.7. i am very electronically challenged by the way.

I hope some of this might be helpful.

The "Image Capture" app that comes with macOS seems to me to work for copying files from my EOS Rebel T1i to my iMac. If you have a card reader on your iMac, I expect that will also work. The Apple Photos.app that comes with macOS will likely work with CR2 files from your camera. Going to the Canon support page for a newer camera will sometimes list a version of Canon DPP that claims to work with Catalina.

For example, one might go to https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/eos-r5 ,software download, Digital Photo Professional 4.17.30 for macOS. It will ask for a serial number and the serial number for my EOS Rebel T1i seems to permit downloading the old version of DPP supported on Catalina.

My uncle who did computer programming taught me binary and octal arithmetic in 1960. I wrote my first program in the FORTRAN IV language in 1969 and put it on punch cards.
