I started an EOS Utility 2 transfer and experienced a Windows crash. Now when I run EOS Utility, the app launches and I get the splash screen, then the EOS Utility app crashes.
I've tried removing and reinstalling EOS Utility Version 2 to no avail. I also tried renaming the folder that the files were being transferred to to a "clean and empty" directory. Neither worked.
Any suggestions on how to clear/reset this condition?
thanx

No error messages were displayed. When I connected the camera, the EOS launcher window appeared, followed by the splash screen. A few seconds later the splash screen disappeared. No app dialog window appeared and no error message was displayed. The above info was found in the Windows Applicaiton Event log.
Thanx for looking into this issue.

That's a pain!
If you have tried a full reboot of the computer and got no result, I would suggest uninstalling the software, doing a clean boot, and reinstalling a fresh copy. Most likely a file used by or within the app has become corrupted and is crashing the whole thing.

Trevor,
Thanx for the feedback, I've done all of the above, but not in that order... I'll give it a try.

When your system crashed, it likely hosed a registry entry for EOSU. Uninstall using the apps panel in Windows and remove the other EOSU 2 folder you created (if you haven't already). Now, download and install CCleaner, run it and let it clean your registry (it's one of the options). It will search your registry and clean up any bad pointers and remove old references to EOSU. When CCleaner has done its job, reboot and install EOSU 2. This will be a clean install, and you should be back in business. Make sure you get it from ccleaner dot com 🙂

I tried the above procedure and still get the same error when EOS Utility 2 runs

I'm sorry it didn't work for you. It has for me over the years on two separate occasions, once with DPP and once with EOSU.
Short of firewall or a virus app settings/changes, that's all I can think of.

The EOS Utility Launcher Window opening up after a fresh installation is not exactly an error, per se. On some systems the app seems to need a jump start. When the Launcher opens, close it. Go into Windows Explorer and the EOS Utility 2 app in the Canon folder and manually start it. The next time you connect your camera, the EOS Utility should start up as you expected.
