EOS Rebel T3 No option to check firmware version in menu

I followed the help to check the firmware version but I do not see the option. When I press Menu, I see two setup icons wrench 1 and 2. Neither menus have a Firmware selection. Wife bought this camera at an Estate Sale years ago, I doubt it was ever updated. I know she has not.

How can I see the firmware version and update option?

Change the shooting mode to M or P..  you should see it then.  Wrench Menu (yellow) tab 3.
