I just upgraded to Windows 11 on my desktop and now my Canon Powershot S1 IS camera won't communicate with it. It worked fine on Windows 10 for years.
When I plug it in to any known working USB port, it sometimes briefly shows up in File Explorer (sometimes not). But then when I click on it, it just disappears every time. I tryed to update drivers but it says the best drivers are already installed. Strangely it's displayed drivers are the same ones for my HP Envy Photo 7800 All-in-One printer (which is also listed).
Looking in Device Manager, it appears under Portable Devices as "MTP USB Device" and says it is working properly. However when I click Events, I see the last event is "Device Install Requested". SO HOW DO I INSTALL IT?
I rebooted with the camera plugged in hoping for it to install, but nothing ever happens. Also tryed "Scan for hardware changes" on the device in Device Manager which did nothing. Also tryed uninstall/reinstall device which did nothing.
