I've downloaded my 1st batch of photos taken on my new R5 Mark II. When I try open them in Elements 2023, it tells me to "install the camera raw plugin from the help menu". I've done this 3 times, I've rebooted and updated my windows 11 and I'm still not able to open the files and keep getting the same message to instll the raw plugin. Any help would be appreciated

Greetings,
I've heard of this happening before. Elements 2023 does not support .CR3 natively. Here is a link for camera RAW 17.1.

If that doesn't help, you'll need to contact Adobe for support as this is not a Canon Product.
You can also download Canon's DPP 4.19.x which will work with the .CR3 files that the R5mkII saves in. It's free.

Thanks Rick, I had already downloaded the latest version from the same site as the link you provided above. This did not change anything in the Elements 2023 app. I did download the Canon DPP 4.19 as you suggested but I didn't realize it was a different app. I'd still like to find a way to get Elements to work the same for my R5 Mark II as it did for my R5.

Use DPP4 to save RAW files as TIFF.

You need at least version 16.4 of camera raw.

You need to contact adobe

I have installed version 17.1. Unfortunately, it did not fix the issue. I have just emailed adobe. Thanks for your input.

I have found a temporary workaround. I open the CR3 files in Topaz, which saves them as DNG files. from there, they open in elements where I can do my processing. I am sure I can save them as different file types using "my friend - the right mouse button" (thanks @waddizzle), but I am hoping for a fix as apposed to a workaround.
