EOS Utility server not reachable

AWare

Hello,

I want to use the EOS utility in a production network, but the server can't be reached.

Our production VLAN has no internet access, so I need to whitelist the specific URL and port of the server the utility trying to reach. I couldn't find that info in the documentation or in a wireshark capture.

Does anyone know this address?

Thanks for joining the conversation, AWare!

To avoid any confusion, please let us know whether you're talking about EOS Utility or EOS Webcam Utility as they're two distinct applications. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

My bad, sorry! I meant EOS Utility. Didn't notice this was the wrong section to post the question.

It's okay!  They're two very different animals despite their similar names.  We moved the thread to the correct section.

EOS Utility can do three functions requiring network access;

  • update the lens profiles in a camera - EOS utility needs to connect to a Canon server on the internet
  • search for updates to EOS Utility - EOS utility needs to connect to a Canon server on the internet
  • if using WiFi, communicate with a camera connected on the same network - EOS Utility needs to be on the same network as the camera.

If your production network has both the camera connected with WiFi and a computer using EOS Utility they can work. I have successfully done this be setting up a second physical test network for the computer and camera - no internet access - and I can connect the two.
