Windows 7 is not supported, and neither are the Windows 10 upgrades.  You need a new computer.  Microsoft dropped support for Windows years ago.

"Fooling computers since 1972."

According to Canon USA support, 4.12.20 will work with Windows 7 64 bit as long as Microsoft Net framework 4.7.1 is installed.

Even the most recent release (4.13.10) will work with Windows 8.1 in addition to earlier versions of Win 10.

Not that Win 10 itself works that well...

The most recent version listed for Windows 7 that I see is DPP 4.11.

Changes for Digital Photo Professional 4.12.20 for Windows :

- Supports EOS Kiss X10i / EOS REBEL T8i / EOS 850D.
Environment
To use this software, your computer has to meet the following system requirements.

1. Supported OSes
Windows 10 64-bit (Version 1607 or later), Windows 8.1 64-bit, Windows 7 SP1 64-bit(*)
* With Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1 installed (Internet access required.)
EOS 1DX M3, 1DX M2, 1DX, 5DS R, M6 Mark II, 1D M2, EOS 650 (film), many lenses, XF400 video

Yes, this was all working at one time, but it must have gotten corrupted, and I tried to re-install after trying to uninistall (unsuccessfully). and it will not install.

Greetings,

It will not hurt to try this:

Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed (microsoft.com)

Similar to Revo and CCCleaner, but made by microsoft for windows 7,  8 and 10.

I'm with the others.  Windows 7 is EOL, and unless you have some compelling business purpose for 7 and are paying MS for support (translation) unwise business investment...  it should be abandoned.

MS is still allowing free upgrade to 10 using your W7 or W8 product keys...  (5 yrs later) so there is no reason not to install 10.  If your hardware won't support 10, it shouldn't be considered or used for post production in the first place.

Interesting.  When I select Windows 7 as the OS, the most recent version listed is DPP 4.11.0

Interesting.  The results are mutually contradictory.

Do NOT allow them to an OS upgrade of any kind.  Canon software is not compatible with an upgraded OS.  An upgraded OS is pretty harmless to applications that only process data, like a spreadsheet or a word processor.  But, an upgraded OS can potentially wreak havoc with apps that interact with the hardware, like USB ports and graphics.
