Does Canon's DPP 4 have any marked advantage over any other editing software? Does DPP 4 enable tethering while shooting portraits?
Up to now, I have used it to see where I was focusing, and scrutinize and cull further.
I do think DPP 4 can render RAW files faster than Light Room Classic, but instead of tagging 10 percent of keepers as in Photo Mechanic, it appears I would select 90 percent to reject.
Since I "bought" DPP 4, I do want to get more out of it and eliminate another paid-for app.

Greetings,
DPP is free. There's no cost associated with using it. It supports Canon bodies and Canon lenses.
If you want to shoot tethered, you can use the EOS utility or the Canon Connect App for iOS or Android. These are free to.
What are the marked advantages? It's a free post-processing editor and an application that has a lens profile for every lens Canon makes.
