Canon Camera Connect live view from EOS R6 Mark II via USB

Lukas80

Hello,

I want to connect an iPhone (lightning port) to the Canon R6 Mark II. The goal is to have a live view of what I’m filming. However, when I connected it with a cable (Lightning to USB-C on the camera, original apple cable), the Connect Camera app does not detect the connection. What could be wrong here? Cannon recomends Anker Lighting->USB C 514 cable. Could you confirm that it will work?

The second thing I noticed is that when I connect the phone second phone with USB to the camera’s USB port and turn on the live view, the image stutters and isn’t smooth. Of course, over Wi-Fi, it’s even worse, but I thought that connecting via cable would result in a smooth image.

Hi Lukas80,

There is a setting on the camera to double check with an issue like this. The USB port on the camera can be set for a couple of different uses, and for connecting to Canon Camera Connect on your iPhone it would need to be set to Canon App(s) for iPhone.

To check that have the camera in either P, Tv, Av, or M and press the Menu button. Go to the fifth page under the yellow wrench icon, select Choose USB Connection App, and set it to Canon App(s) for iPhone. Once you've done that check to see if the same thing happens.

Through Canon support we can only recommend products made by Canon. We do not make a cable that goes from USB C to a Lightening connection, so there aren't any cables of that type we could recommend. The cable we make for that camera would be USB-C to USB-C.
