Greetings nscherer,
Our software uses a universal installer for installing software on to a computer. Errors that may come up during installation may be caused by either the other software on the computer or the operating system. When downloading the installation file from our website, please run it from the folder it was downloaded to in case you have moved the file to a different folder. We recommend downloading and installing the software from the hard drive inside the computer in case you are running the file from a USB flash drive.
Please check to see if there is any security software or settings on your computer that may be causing a conflict when attempting to install Digital Photo Professional 4. In case you have a prior version installed then please remove it prior to installing the latest version to see if it installs.
If possible, please test to see if the software will install on a different computer. In case it does then the issue may be with the first computer and we would suggest to contact Apple for further assistance.

I would be fascinated to hear how moving the installer to a different directory can cause the installation to fail, though I didn't do that. I'm installing from the hard drive and I don't think I have any security software causing a problem. Other installers work fine. I do not have another Mac to try it on. Do you have any suggestions specific to the error I posted? Because that looks like boilerplate "did you try turning it off and back on" kind of stuff.
