I have a Canon EOS 5D, Mark IV. I will be traveling to southern Illinois to view the total solar eclipse and wondering what lens or attachment I need to video record the entire solar eclipse that won’t damage my camera. Any advice would be appreciated.

You need high quality gear. You have not told us what gear you do have. There are lots of tutorials to be found on YouTube. I suggest that you start there.

I have a Canon Zoom Lens EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS II USM. But for this event, I will probably use my Canon Zoom Lens EF 100-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 L IS II USM. Hope that helps.
