New PowerShot G7 Mark 11 battery not charging

Hi, I will appreciate some help please.  My new camera just arrived and the battery won't show its charging light, so I am assuming that something is wrong.

The plug isn't easy to connect the charger with the cable.  Anyone have any ideas please?

Do you mean that the charger doesn't light up when the battery is being charged? Looks like a problem with the battery or charger. Can you try another battery?

Thank you Bob for your reply, it is appreciated! It appears now as if the cable that plugs into the charger is not very stable and the slightest knock or bump causes it to disconnect from the power supply.  The lights have now come on, so the battery looks like it is charging.  Thanks again for your reply!
