EOS Utility Won't Work With DC Coupler

Hello Everyone!

I have a Canon 60d. I recently bought a decoupler which works fine apart from the fact that the camera says it cannot communicate with the battery (use this battery?) but the camera is usable. 

When using the decoupler my eos utility and webcam utility doesnt see the camera connected at all. If I use the battery everything is back to normal, anything I can do about this?

Please note the decoupler have the "T" port on the left side instead of being next to the "D".

Are you referring to a "DC Coupler" dummy battery. 

Is it a Canon branded DC Coupler? "DR-E6"

Appreciate your reply. It is a DR-E6 dummy battery, yes. it has a "D" and "C" labelled connector on the left and right of the charging connector. ON the actual battery I have "T" and "C" labelled connectors both placed on the right side of the power connector. According to a bit of research I have done D on the dummy (which is T on the actual battery) is for the camera to "communicate" with the battery so I assume the error when starting the camera comes due to this. 

However I dont think this should not allow the USB port to operate as intended stopping the EOS utility to communicate with the camera, as the camera is anyway fully functional using the dummy apart from the EOS Utility.

Quite the contrary.  Why would you think that?  An AC/DC adapter and coupler could very easily cause a communication fault due to improper grounding.  The fact that it works on battery power but not the adapter should be the red flag that this could likely be the cause.

Try different USB ports on your laptop. Do not use a USB port expander. 

If your laptop is also using an AC adapter, then try testing the configuration(s) with it unplugged and running on its own battery power.

Also, what do you have the DC coupler powered by? Is it the Canon AC-E6N power supply or something else?
