I got my camera hooked up to my computer, it's being detected and I can transfer files. But, I'm unsure how to record while it's connected to the computer. I got a yeti mic, which is great, but can't be hooked directly in, so it has to be connected to a computer. If I'm going to record a video using both, is there some software I can get to use the vixia while it's linked or do I have to record both separately and combine them in post?

Try these options: Use the wifi function- you can video shoot and ext. mic. is plug in to camcorder.

The video and sound is recorded in sd card.

Record video and mic in camcorder but not plug in to computer.

Try recording video with  mic plug  in. ( use tripod ) that is saved in sd card, upload to windows movie maker to add anything or edit your video, like caption, narration, animation , etc.

Record your video in blu ray disc recorder when played in tv.

I have not tried using HDMI cable from camcorder direct to blu ray disc recorder.

Buying recording software is expensive while windows movie maker is free in windows 7 but not in windows 10.

I do not know mac/apple cut pro....
