What was the first camcorders that Canon put out with HDMI connections?

Church needs to get serious about live streaming but won't develop a budget. I'm looking at putting together a simple 2-3 camera set up with LANC controls that will probably feed an old HD Roland switcher/mixer into a laptop. It' my wallet for the first system so I'm looking for the best options for the money, so to speak.

Years ago, I used a Sony VX2100 and eventually upgraded to a Canon XL2. What would you suggest to start off with?

DannoZ,

To my knowledge, the Canon VIXIA HV20 was among the first HD camcorders we made which was equipped with an HDMI terminal.  This was not standard on all subsequent models though, as it would be several years and generations of products before HDMI became an industry standard on cameras like it is currently.

Greetings,

The key term in your question...  "It's My Wallet" might decide how people answer.

Sorry, but we get 20 of these every month, "what would you recommend"...  we recommend, only to then hear, I can't afford that.

We don't want to waste time suggestion something that is outside your budjet.

Maybe use Canon's store in conjunction with B&H's website to identify a product, within your budget that has the features you seek.  If Canon Store, refurbished products can also be considered to maximize you purchase power.

Fair enough. So, can you help me minimize my search by telling me which cameras were the first ones with HDMI connections?

Canon themselves or a dealer should be able to tell you which were the first HDMI out cameras. As to a switcher, have a look at BMDs Artem.

For what it's worth, we just launched new beta software that will allow you to stream using USB, instead of HDMI. Check it out at canon.us/livestream
