VIXIA HF R80 VIDEO FILES SHOWING AS EMPTY WHEN TRYING TO TRANSFER TO COMPUTER???

My Vixia HF R80 has video files on it I can see when I look on the camcorder. I plug the cord into the computer to transfer the files and the files are showing up as empty.  The videos are on the internal memory storage of the device and not on an external memory card. How can I get the videos off the camcorder and why are they showing as empty?

I have an ASUS Vivobook and I have been using it with this camcorder for almost a year now with no issues until now. Now the files are showing as empty when I try to transfer them from the cam to the computer
