I purchased 3 VIXIA HF M40's back in 2011 that have served me well and are still going strong. However, my clients are asking for 4K content so I feel obligated to upgrade my current 1080p set up to a 4K-capable camcorder. I'm considering purchasing the VIXIA HF G70, however, I've read that there is no shoe compartment on board (or actually there is, but the compartment is screwed shut with no shoe underneath). I'm curious as to why Canon chose to discontinue the inclusion of a shoe (mini-advanced shoe, as on my HF M40, or a standard hot/cold shoe) on the G70 as I've heard that a shoe was included on models up to and including the previous G60. Please advise as this could be a significant factor in my choice of purchasing a 4K camcorder soon. Thank you.

Greetings ,
I found a bracket with 2 cold shoe mounts that costs about $19. Look at Vello or Smith-Victor.
