Hi Canon community,
I'm hoping to find a repair solution for a faulty screen on my Canon Legria Mini X – I know Canon no longer services this model, and even a few camera repair shops I reached out to in my city (New York City) said they can't repair the camera. As a result, I feel extremely hopeless to find a way to repair the screen. I thought if I posted here, someone can share ideas or options I can pursue. I'm not a camera repair specialist, but I'm willing to try repairing the camera myself if I have to. That's how desperate I am to keep this camera alive and working.
For details on the screen issue, the LCD screen shows a TV static noise-type of image (see photo below).
The screen isn't cracked, and the camera can record videos normally – which I checked using my laptop and viewed the videos from the SD card. I just can't see anything that's being recorded on the camera screen itself. Before the static-y screen issue, the first problem I had with the screen was that it no longer oriented correctly when I flipped the screen upright (see the image below for the screen position I'm referring to). Normally, the screen automatically changes orientation depending on how I set it. Instead, the screen/image would be upside down.
After exhausting my options of contacting local camera repair shops, I discovered that eBay sells LCD flex cables for this exact model, so I ordered one even though I have no idea if this is what's needed to fix the camera.
Just from the issue described above, can anyone share insights on what type of repairs the camera might need, if the new LCD flex cable will help fix the screen, and if there are any other options I have if Canon or camera repair shops are unable to help fix the camera?
Thank you very much for your time!

Hello ctaboy,
Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The VIXIA MINI X is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.
Hope this helps!
