I have a 500 and bought a lens hood. I have a 43x52mm step ring. Apparently the 500 has a smaller than 43mm thread. What size is it really? Thanks.

The lens size is 43 mm diameter but if it will not fit because threading is not a standard one, maybe the one you have is not a metric specs.

I'm not sure I understand. Is 43 mm not a metric measurement?

Maybe the one you have is not a metric thread.
When you buy did specify an inside diameter of 43 mm?

Yes. That's what was so puzzling. It says 43-52mm on the ring.

Maybe you will need an adapter ( 43 mm inside diameter ) where in you will fit that lens cap to that adapter.
I supposed when you buy the cap it must include the adapter together.
