ZR45MC images are just black

Hi found my mom's old camcorder and I'm having trouble with both screens not receiving any picture from the sensor camera turns on and is fully operational but when pictures are taken it just black. Is there any way to fix this. Thank you.

Hi LukeA9112  Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The ZR45MC is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

If the viewfinder or LCD are "just black" it appears that the sensor is shot.

What happens if you play back old tapes?
