I'm glad you found a solution to your problem. I gave up on trying to get mine to print text black. It's still prints beautiful pictures. I ended up buying a HP 3038 for text. Thanks for writing!

Hi BillS,I've done what you advised and the black for text still didn't print. I took the head out, flush the ports until the water ran clear, put it back into the printer with new ink cartridges and still blank. It will print photos only.
