How to adjust record levels for external mic on a HF R700?

I cannot figure out how to adjust the external mic record levels inside the camera...there seems to be no function from the LCD menu for this? Does anyone have any experoience with this on this particular camera?Thx!

Never mind...I figured it out, camera cannot be in AUTO mode to access the mic record levels in camera.
