Improve scan quality with flat bed feeder on MF8580Cdw

Can someone give me a suggestion on how to improve the scan quality of my new MF8580? The opriginals are appropriate in darkne4ss however the scan comes out extremely light and unreadable. If I can not resolve thios I will be forced to return it.
