Power Shot SD 750 - Black display screen when you try to take photos. How do you turn the Display on

When I attempt to take photos the display screen is black.  I can review previously taken photos.   In the Set button screen a "Display Off" icon is is displayed.  How do I turn the Display back on? Thanks, Steve
