Loud alarm sound while fax/printer is in sleep mode. What does this mean?

We have a Canon MF6180dw imageCLASS printer/fax. It keeps making a very loud alarm sound, but there are no warning lights and its while it is in sleep mode. Does anyone know why it would be doing this? Thank you!
