Hi -- The Neewer is several years old - and I may have bought it used when my Canon Speedlite started acting up. I don't really remember. As I said I don't do a lot of flash photography so its not a huge priority for me to get working. Rich

I spoke to Canon yesterday and will ship the camera back on Monday. Another thing they suggested was to remove the "smart" lens adapter which I did and the battery drained 50% instead of completely so definitly something wrong. Rich
