Can I chime in? This happens on my Vixia HF R400 too and it happened in two different locations (two different buildings, miles apart). AC = buzz and batter none. I have turned off the ACG and set the audio to manual.
Thanks. When I follow the instructions in the manual to do that, I don't get the icons, so I'm guessing the Vixia 400 doesn't have the option to change the gain. Update: had to find several different sites to explain the various steps, but I was able...
