Use tape over the middle pin and the camera shuts only down when the battery is empty.You have no indicator, but better then nothing. If you recorded 20-25 minutes of video, then use a spare battery und you are pretty save   

Hello A customer on Amazon says, if you use a microsdhc card with adapterthan there is no battery indicator problem. I don't know if it's true or not

It's not just Canon.Other manufacturers have sometimes also problems with a specific camera.Look at Nikons D600 and the oil/dust problem.And there it is a pricy 2000€ camera and not only a 250€ camera.

Maybe they can't fixed it. Think about it.If it was fixable, why not do it and spare the bad publicity.
