With battery inserted, charge camera via the USB3 port til the orange light goes out. That fixed it for me 

You make it sound so simple. There is nothing next to the main battery compartment. All I see is a lot of screws on the underside of the camera. I tried removing these and could not see any way of getting the bottom off. This is quite frankly a ridic...

OK, I know what the cause is now. It is third party batteries. I also have RAVPower batteries. I don't get this issue with the Canon battery. I believe the Canon charges the internal battery circuit, but the RAVPower does not. If I leave the Canon in...
