I would return it for a functioning model to whoever you got it from. If it is brand new you should dtill be in the warrantee period.

It would be my EF-s 17-55mm f/2.8. Very sharp and pretty versitile.

Canon Rumors said they are hearing that there was an issue with the extender bump on the lens from their testers and they are trying to fix it. No announcement until they fix the lens. Haven't heard anything about a plain 200-400.

I believe sigma has an 8-16mm. I am pretty certain it is for aps-c bodies though.
