Speedlite version compatible with Canon Vt?

Hi community

I recently bought a Canon Vt, a rangefinder from the 1950s. I am enjoying it a lot.

Is there a model of Speedlite or other electronic flash unit which could be triggered by that camera? The Vt has a PC socket, and FP, M, X and M. Some of those sync choices are for bulbs only as I understand it.

The Canon 580EX II would be ideal to use with your Canon VT. It has a PC port for syncing with your camera, and it has a Custom Function for External Manual Metering. You would enter the film ISO and lens aperture f/stop info into the display on flash body. The flash has a light sensor on the front of the body, and would automatically adjust the flash power to properly expose the photo. 

Here is a photo of a Canon 580EX II with External Manual Metering set with ISO 200 and an aperture of f/9. The flash coupling distance of 0.8 to 11 meters will automatically be displayed to show the near and far distance where proper auto exposure will be assured. Any closer than about 0.8 meters, the photo will be overexposed. Any farther than about 11 meters, and the photo will be underexposed.
