Turkey Vultures have a very distinctive flight pattern and are known for gliding with their wings in a "V" shape (dihedral) and often rocking from side to side as they soar on thermals.  When viewed from below, their flight feathers appear a lighter silver gray color, which contrasts with their darker body feathers.  They are large birds, but smaller than condors or golden eagles.
