Sports photography

The first key to good sports photography is being in the right spot.  The second thing is to remember that great athletes don't give up on a play until the whistle blows and neither should the photographer or some great photo opportunities will be missed.

This player secured a tough catch in traffic while going to the ground and although it looked like it would be an incomplete pass, he stayed focused and secured the catch.  When shooting a game, we have to be as dedicated,  focused, and aware as the players.   Sequence captured with Canon 1DX III and EF 70-200 f2.8 @ 1/1,000 and f2.8.  Full 17 capture sequence:  https://rodgersingley.smugmug.com/Crayton-Schnierle/n-J5nQzx

It was a fun game to photograph and this same player made a one handed catch later in the game under double coverage.
